A Caricature: Canadian Minister Kevin Krueger

So I've always wanted to create caricatures...and in spite of doing numerous "cartoony and exaggerated" faces from imagination I'd still been feeling a bit reluctant to try my hand at caricature.

But I'm learning that if I finally just jump in...I usually wonder why I waited so long.

I keep an image bank of photos, art etc that I find while snooping around Google Image.  I came across a photograph one night that just leaped off the page and grabbed me by the shirt and screamed in my face:  "I'm the must draw caricature...I INSIST!!"

Ok, so I've exaggerated a tiny bit...but I did know that there was potential for caricature in the face I found so I finally got busy creatin' my first caricature from a photo.

I got some excellent suggestions from some friends over at my Concept Art thread on how to improve my final version.  Thanks Syrca and shiNIN!

So without further is my caricature:  Kevin Krueger, humanoid and proud Canadian!  : )

Arizona Artist Jephyr aka Jeff Curtis caricature of Canadian Minister Kevin Krueger

Created using my trusty Wacom Intuos tablet and Adobe Photoshop.

I've already got another caricature in the works and hope to post that soon.

Thanks for looking in!

Ciao fer now

BTW...I updated my website....and it's still got that "new web-site" smell.

If you stop by I'll make sure you get window seat with a view!  :)

  1. Haha! Awesome. That is a hilarious caricature, Jeff, I can see what you mean by it calling to you when you saw it. Haha. Good job! I definitely think that if you feel like you want to work more in caricatures, that would be a great direction for you to go in. I do remember Cindy, the painting teacher that we had together, was encouraging you in that direction.

  2. Thanks Danielle! I'm so glad you like it! :) I'd forgotten that Cindy said that...thanks! I've always enjoyed seeing caricatures so much...but like I said until recently haven't really tried my hand at them. Thanks for the encouraging feedback...I think I will keep working at them. It's Sunday AM and I think I'm headed to Sovereign Grace this morning...hope you and your family are having a wunnderful day!! :)
