A recent sketchbook drawing. And then a dash of color.

Hi...tiz I!  : )

I've been having the greatest time posting at my ConceptArt.org sketchbook.  I'm getting to know some very cool people over there and feel it's been helping me tremendously to be a part of a large, active art community.  Just seeing all the fantastic stuff people post is inspiring enough...but people also offer advice and cheer you on.  If you're an artist I'd highly recommend checking it out!

Anywho...on to some art:

Here's a recent sketch from my "real world" sketchbook done over the last couple of days.

Last night when I got home, using Adobe Photoshop and my Wacom Intuos Tablet, I threw some monochromatic blues across it...and even though it's far from polished kinda liked the effect.

Thanks for looking in on my lil ole blog.

Ciao fer now,

Jephyr

  1. Hi Jeff! Haven't written you in awhile, hope to soon, but I saw this blog post and thought I would comment. I am glad you still are having a good time with Conceptart.org ;) This drawing is well done! I love the movement and your line work. So smooth and seamless. It does look cool with the monochromatic look. You know, I am kind of seeing some symbolism in this picture. I don't know if it was intentional but you have the church and three crosses. Your figures are skeletal, but are rooted to the ground. I sort of see this as this worldly woman who is dead in her trespasses and "rooted" to this world and the darkness, being outside the Church/Christ. The little guy in the back seems to be calling her back. What do you think? Haha. It is a good piece!

Well, talk to you later! Keep up the work!

  2. Hi Danielle!! Good ta 'ear from Ye! : ) I'm glad you like the image...thanks for the positive and encouraging feedback! And yes...the symbolism is there...pretty much as you described it!! The guy in the background is calling to her...perhaps trying to help...but he is rooted to the ground as well. There's a true story from some recent happenings in my life that this is based on. I've thought a lot about what we talked about at Gotham...and I'm glad to hear that you see some of that reflected in this one. I hope all is well for you and your family!! : )

  3. Hi Jeff! I am glad that I was able to see the symbolism that you were trying to get across in this photo. I can see what you are saying about the guy in the background. Art pieces are always that much stronger when drawn from our own experiences. Have you finished coloring it yet? Thanks so much for thinking so much on what we talked about. : ) Life is really busy, but maybe in March some time we can get together at Gotham. I have been meaning to write you before now, but so many things have been going on! When I do write, I will have lots of news to tell. Haha. I hope you are doing well yourself!

  4. Hi Danielle! Yeah...it was very cool that you saw so much into that image that I intended...or that was even revealed to me as (or even after) I drew it! : ) I've had so much going on recently I haven't gotten back to it but hope to someday. It'd be great to get together again...Gotham in March would work for me. I'm looking forward to hearing about all your news whether in person or through a letter! :) God Bless!
