Howdy!
Recently I attended two Life Drawing open sessions held by my favorite instructor over at MCC, Gingher Leyendecker. It had been a while since I'd done any Life Drawing.
I've been using Canson Steele Grey paper for life drawing. The paper becomes the middle value and it makes it easier to push dark and light values across it using charcoal and black conte for the darks and blending white conte for the highlights.
I was a little more ambitious for the one above and attempted to do more of the model. But I was late to the open session and got just this far in a little over an hour of drawing. I'm afraid I didn't definitely didn't do justice to our attractive model.

BTW...if you want to learn how to draw I highly recommend Mesa Community College...especially Gingher's Life Drawing and Anatomy classes!! (For as often as I tell folks that...you'd think I was on the payroll : )
Well...that's a quick update...thanks as always for stopping by!!

Bye for now
I hadn't seen these. Very beautiful work, Jeff. Not rusty at all! I have to say I love the drawing of the arm. I think it has so much movement in the contours and looks like it is leaning more towards illustrative than realistic, which is what I like about it. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it is great that you keep promoting MCC. I do the same whenever I get the chance, mostly students I meet in labs who want to know what classes to take. A very good school, indeed!
Thank you so much Danielle! I'm so glad you like 'em and respond to that arm! Unlike a lot of artists I don't look down on Illustrators...so I'm happy if you see that!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you champion MCC too! IMO it's easy to do isn't it!
Thank you for your recent e-mail as well...I'll respond asap...but unfortunately it will probably be a while before I can
Hope all is well with you and the fam! God Bless!
